International League
Matt LaPorta , Columbus
.520 (13-25), 10 R, 0 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 6 BB, 1 SO, 0 SB, .840 SLG
Indians top prospect Matt LaPorta swung a hot bat this week, collecting a hit in every game to extend his hitting streak to seven games. The outfielder homered in back-to-back games against Indianapolis on April 24 and 25. He also had four multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 effort on April 25. LaPorta, a 2008 Southern League All-Star, leads the International League with 19 runs scored and a .767 slugging percentage.
Pacific Coast League
Michael Ryan, New Orleans
.476 (10-21), 5 R, 4 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 4 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, .952 SLG
Marlins farmhand Michael Ryan hit safely in all six games this week, including three multiple-hit games with the Zephyrs. He cranked his first two homers of the season on back-to-back days against Round Rock on April 21 and 22. The 31-year-old outfielder scored five runs this week and raised his season average to .397.
Eastern League
Maxwell Leon, Erie
.421 (8-19), 7 R, 0 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 1 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, 1.105 SLG
Tigers prospect Maxwell Leon homered in three straight games this week, and also tripled in back-to-back outings. He destroyed Harrisburg pitchers with a six-RBI game on April 23, and followed that up by scoring four runs the next day. Leon leads the circuit with 18 RBIs, 11 extra-base hits, three triples and an .804 slugging percentage.
Southern League
Rhyne Hughes, Montgomery
.375 (9-24), 5 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 4 BB, 8 SO, 1 SB, .958 SLG
Tampa Bay's Rhyne Hughes started the week with a 4-for-4 performance against Mobile on April 20. The first base prospect cranked four homers this week, including shots in back-to-back games on April 24 and 25. Bolstered by his power display this week, Hughes leads the Southern League with six homers and 10 extra-base hits and is tied for fourth with 13 RBIs.
Texas League
Steven Hill, Springfield
.571 (12-21), 8 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 9 RBI, 2 BB, 3 SO, 0 SB, 1.286 SLG
Steven Hill started the week off with a two homers, four RBIs and three runs scored against Midland on April 20. The Cardinals catching prospect followed it up with a 5-for-5 effort that included three doubles and his third blast of the week. The 2007 draftee cooled off for a couple days before finding his stroke again Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Hill leads the league with an .840 slugging percentage and is tied for first with 10 extra-base hits.
California League
Kuo Hui Lo, High Desert
.429 (9-21), 7 R, 0 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 9 RBI, 0 BB, 3 SO, 0 SB, 1.190 SLG
Taiwan native Kuo Hui Lo ripped apart Cal League pitchers this week, with four homers in five games -- including a pair of roundtrippers to cap off the week on April 26. The Mariners prospect hit safely and had at least one RBI in each game this week. He currently leads the circuit with six triples and an .811 slugging percentage. Lo is riding a six-game hitting streak into the third week of the season.
Carolina League
Lonnie Chisenhall, Kinston
.333 (10-30), 6 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 15 RBI, 5 BB, 6 SO, 1 SB, .700 SLG
Indians shortstop prospect Lonnie Chisenhall was on fire, plating five runs in two straight games and homering in three consecutive contests. He had an 11-game hitting streak snapped on April 26, but the outburst helped place him second in the Carolina League with 18 RBIs this season. The '08 New York-Penn League All-Star had three multiple-hit efforts and scored six runs this week.
Florida State League
Caleb Gindl, Brevard County
.522 (12-23), 6 R, 0 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 3 BB, 2 SO, 1 SB, .783 SLG
The Brewers' Caleb Gindl cleaned up at the plate this week for Brevard County. The '07 fifth-round pick started the week going 4-for-4 with three RBIs on April 21 and capped it off with a homer, three runs scored and two RBIs on April 26. He broke out against Dunedin on April 24 with a homer and four RBIs, while going 3-for-4 at the plate. The shortstop prospect leads the FSL with a .397 average and 23 hits.
Midwest League
Johermyn Chavez, Lansing
.421 (8-19), 7 R, 1 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 2 BB, 5 SO, 0 SB, 1.158 SLG
Johermyn Chavez started the week with a homer in three consecutive games, followed by a 3-for-5 performance in which he fell a homer short of the cycle and plated four runs. The Blue Jays prospect leads the Midwest League with four homers and nine extra-base hits. The Venezuelan native had an eight-game hitting streak snapped on April 26.
South Atlantic League
Jordan Pacheco, Asheville
.467 (14-30), 8 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 5 BB, 2 SO, 1 SB, .833 SLG
Rockies catching prospect Jordan Pacheco got his week going by homering in back-to-back games on April 21 and 22. He followed it up with a 5-for-6 performance on April 24, before hitting his third blast in a four-game series against Greensboro. Pacheco leads the South Atlantic League with 18 RBIs, is tied for first with four homers and is second with 26 hits, a .400 average and a .631 slugging percentage.
